iPhone 11 vs. Professional Photographer

iPhone 11 was just released and I made the purchase. After days of comparing the different models of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 pro max. I went with the iPhone 11. Now let’s talk about the camera, it is great, the images are sharp even in low lighting. I am not a fan of the bokeh feature it’s not very accurate.

Technology is amazing, not only can we answer phone calls, go on the internet whenever, wherever, but we can also take great photos. 20 years ago the first phone camera was released before then you had to buy a camera to take pictures. This image was taken on the portrait mode of iPhone 11. These are all of the features of the camera on the iPhone 11;

  • Dual 12MP Ultra Wide and Wide cameras
  • Ultra Wide: ƒ/2.4 aperture and 120° field of view
  • Wide: ƒ/1.8 aperture
  • 2x optical zoom out; digital zoom up to 5x
  • Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control
  • Portrait Lighting with six effects (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono)
  • Optical image stabilization (Wide)
  • Five‑element lens (Ultra Wide); six‑element lens (Wide)
  • Brighter True Tone flash with Slow Sync
  • Panorama (up to 63MP)
  • Sapphire crystal lens cover
  • 100% Focus Pixels (Wide)
  • Night mode
  • Auto Adjustments
  • Next-generation Smart HDR for photos
  • Wide color capture for photos and Live Photos
  • Advanced red‑eye correction
  • Auto image stabilization
  • Burst mode
  • Photo geotagging
  • Image formats captured: HEIF and JPEG

This list of features is defiantly more than most of my past point and shoot cameras. A point and shoot camera is a still camera designed primarily for simple operation. Any iPhone camera is nothing more than a point and shoot camera. Yes, the iPhone 11 is the best camera compared to the previous models of the iPhone but is still not a professional camera.

Professional image same time, same location

This image has not been edited, just a slight color adjustment made and resized for the web. It was shot with Canon 5DMarkiii, using a canon speedlite off to the side of my subject. With my photography experience, education and equipment this is what I can create. Hiring a professional photographer, they will create art, it’s not about just clicking a button.

Hire a Pro when you need something GREAT!
